# How the follow invite works

> The follow invite is a friendly line that asks people to follow you after they get what they asked for, and it never holds anything back. It is free on every plan.

## Steps

1. Open your automation and scroll to **Invite them to follow**.
2. Turn on **Invite them to follow you**.
3. Write your message in **Your invitation**, or keep the ready-made one: “Hope that helps! 💛 Follow me for more like this.”
4. Click **Save & activate**.

You do not need to add your profile link. Replavia adds it at the end for you, so following takes one tap.

## When it is sent

The person always gets your content first. The invite comes after it. How it is sent depends on the tappable button.

| What happens | Button on | Button off |
|---|---|---|
| Where the invite goes | Its own message, sent last | At the end of the same DM, after your content |
| People who already follow you | Skipped | May see it once |

### With the button on

Turn on **Use a tappable button** in the DM step. After the person taps, they get your content. Then the invite comes as its own message. Instagram lets Replavia check who already follows you only after a tap, so people who follow you already are not asked. DM, story reply and story mention automations also send it as its own message.

### With the button off

Instagram allows one automatic DM per comment until the person taps or replies. So the invite is added to the end of that one DM. Replavia cannot check who already follows you, so your followers may see it once.

## Once per person

Each person gets the invite once per Instagram account. If one of your automations already invited them, your other automations on that account do not ask again. If you have two Instagram accounts, each one can invite the same person once.

## Wording that is refused

Instagram does not allow making a follow a condition for getting something. So the invite must be an ask, never a rule. Replavia refuses wording it recognises as making following a condition, and shows you why. Please do not write it in any language.

Good examples:

- “Hope that helps! 💛 Follow me for more like this.”
- “Follow me for more recipes every week.”

Refused examples:

- “Follow me first to get the link.”
- “Followers only — follow to get the code.”

Your content is always sent, whatever the person does. Holding it back until someone follows is not allowed, and it could put the whole app at risk.

## Good to know

- Holding a reward back until someone follows is against Meta’s rules. See [How Replavia follows Instagram and Meta platform rules](https://replavia.com/help/how-replavia-follows-meta-rules).
- With the button off, the invite may not fit. Instagram allows 1,000 bytes in one DM. If your content and the invite are too long together, your content is sent without the invite. Your content always wins.
- Letters in Hindi, Marathi and other non-English scripts count as about 3 bytes each.
- If you delete the automation that sent an invite, those people can be invited once more by another automation.
- The invite is free on every plan, including Free.
